…you are much too excited about your brand new…kitchen sink.
Here is our old one. I must say, I was not a fan…
Here is our new sink & faucet fixture!
Seriously, how much better does that look? I know you are not able to see the rest of the kitchen & the lighting for the picture is horrible, but the backsplash tiles and cabinet hardware really pop with the new sink’s colors and textures! What an easy (we installed this ourselves) & inexpensive upgrade for any kitchen!
In other news, you may have seen these lovely flowers my sweet husband had delivered to me at work for Valentine’s Day:
I love hydrangeas & tulips…and of course, pink and green…and polka dots! Craig must know me well… 😉
Our furs spent the night out with their furry friends at the doggie sitter & Craig & I stayed here:
Hilton Atlanta Marietta Conference Center & Resort
If you live in the Atlanta area and have never stayed here…you really should. It’s a beautiful hotel and really, a hidden gem! We had dinner at a newer restaurant in Marietta called “Cosmopolitan”, which was delicious – most especially their dessert which was even gluten-free!

So, what’s up in your neck of the woods? Here in Georgia, we are shut down once more – but this time, it’s due to an unprecedented ice storm – a storm that woke me up in the wee hours of the morning.
Yesterday Near Where Craig & I Live
It doesn’t look bad, but even the poor doggies were slipping around when I have taken them out to potty in our backyard. I can’t imagine the roads…They are expecting up to 1″ of ice. Yikes.
Our back deck…That’s one of Lucy’s HUGE bones – buried in ice!
In other news, this past week, as you know, we attended Winter Jam 2014:
Look At All Those People! No rain & not a cloud in the sky…But there were definitely beautiful rainbows peering down on us as we waited in line!
Every different genre of music was represented…There were amazing stories and testimonies shared… Georgia Bulldogs’ Coach Mark Richt spoke; Nik Wallenda walked across the Dome on a tightrope; A youth pastor from Minneapolis shared a wonderful sermon…We were SO blessed by the experience! God definitely led us to the Georgia Dome. There is no doubt.
On a lighter note, Monday was my first day as a permanent and ‘official’ employee with CHEP. It’s very exciting – This company is AWESOME and I am so happy to be a part of it!
Oh, and with Craig’s encouragement and expert driving ability during our last icy mess, in January, I completed Pure Barre’s 21 Day Challenge! Yay! Yep, that means, in one month, I completed 21 classes on 21 different days! I won’t say it wasn’t TOUGH (IT WAS!!!!), but it was so worth it!
Hope all of you are having a wonderful afternoon!! Stay warm!!!
At the Lefebvre Household, we have been pretty boring this past week. 😦 Rather than tell you what has NOT been ‘up’ in our lives, enjoy an almost WORDLESS WEDNESDAY instead. 🙂 Enjoy!
Enough preciousness for you?
Join us for an AWESOME post tomorrow by a SPECIAL GUEST!!!!
You may have noticed yesterday’s post was a little bit late being published…and it may have seemed a little bit…unfinished? Well, the reason why is because in the midst of writing it during my lunch hour at work, we were told to leave and head home…the forecasted 1-2″ of snow was falling hard outside, and with the temperatures where they were, everything was turning to ice. So, at 12:30, I left the office and slid my way over the ice covered parking lot to my car…This is what I found:
For the end of January in Georgia, this is NOT a typical scenario…and with the temperature at 21 degrees, and the pavement already turning to ice…I was beginning to realize my journey home to Craig (whose flight for the day had already been cancelled – thank you JESUS!) and the furs was going to be a bit of an adventure. Little did I know…
This “vlog” was taken about 5 miles, maybe less, away from my office – 4 hours later.
The video was taken while I was stopped for HOURS on a narrow road, and very steep, windy hill that was covered in a sheet of pure ice. When I was finally down that hill, hours later, I made it onto the interstate – several hours even later than that – after being stuck on the middle of a bridge. Luckily, by the grace of God, once again, two men got out of their own trucks to push my car across the bridge. Here’s an article and video for a little more clarification on the situation I was caught up in last night. Click here, and then watch the video below. (Note: You will need to view this post in an internet browser to playback the videos – below and above.)
It was like something you would see on a horror movie about the apocalypse. Trucks were literally stuck on the interstate in rows of 3, blocking the entire roadway. Cars were inching along in the emergency lanes, weaving in and out of the stranded vehicles, sliding all over the place on the ice. On one empty stretch of the interstate it was like a true ice skating rink, and once more, my guardian angel was sent to guide me safely to a safe place, off the roadway, where my sweet husband (and our four wheel drive truck) rescued me from my ten hour nightmare!!!! Yes, that’s right. I did not make it to even within 15 miles of our house until 10:30PM last night!!!!! Praise Jesus, Craig was home!
Today, the snow is beautiful, and we have been able to be outside and enjoying it:
Lucy says, “Thank you so much, Aunt Jenna, for our Frisbees!!!”
Our BackyardOur Front Yard
Aaah! Now that we are all safely home and warm, Craig and I are going to settle in with a bowl of popcorn and a funny movie. All of you stay warm out there, and thank the Lord you are SAFE and WARM and somewhere you have the luxury of reading this blog post!
Brrrr! It’s COLD here in Atlanta – 17 degrees! For we Southern folk, that is an arctic chill! 🙂
We’ve been pretty busy with errands, and plain not exciting this week, but that gives us an opportunity to brag on our little girls – The Furs, as we call them:
Miss Daisy – our resident kitty and 1st pet. She was mine before I met Craig, but once we found him, she became HIS baby! Miss Daisy just loves her father! She was very very used to being our “only child”…
and was a little perplexed (and MAD!) when we brought home this little ball of fur…
Lucy: Our golden retriever/yellow lab mix…My precious little girl who is not little at all anymore!! She was allllllll puppy when we got her, and very very curious about her new kitty cat sister, Miss Daisy…But Miss Daisy was not the least bit interested in being her friend… And then this little miss climbed (literally!) into our car at the gas station one morning…
Caroline: “The Longest Dog In The World”, as we refer to her. This little dachschund has the tiniest body and the biggest heart of any animal I have ever met. She is curious, cuddly, and just precious! However, she is TOO curious for the comfort of Miss Daisy for sure!
They do not get along…But as you can tell from below, Lucy & Miss Daisy are no longer enemies or skiddish around each other at all:
How precious are they!?!?!?!
Oh, how I just love our sweet girls! 🙂 If we’re this bad now, can you imagine how lovesick we’ll be over our own children??? 🙂
Yay! We have finally made it to the middle of the week! I’m in the midst of Pure Barre’s January 21 Day Challenge, and boy, the week is dragging by!! 5-7 days/week of leaving the house at 4:45 am. {Yawn.}
But I must say that I am LOVING getting this workout in every day! (No, we aren’t being sponsored by PB) But seriously, if you have a studio near you, try this work out. It’s 55 minutes of pure BURNING, while doing NO cardio whatsoever.
As you can tell from the title of this post, between all the Pure Barre classes & work, we have finally completed our great room/den/family room. I found a pillow & throw for our new French barrel cane chair:
Here is a close-up of the fabric:
Against the silver of the draperies and the flat grey of the chair, I am loving the way this fabric is both metallic and flat flax-colored linen in one. Perfect blend of opulence and tranquility – The whole theme I designed this room around.
And if you’ll notice in the back left corner of the picture above, you can just barely see our final addition:
This antiqued brass and wood inlay Threshold Target Bar Cart was originally $129.99. NO WAY. (Although, apparently, much better than the price at Crate & Barrel – see link!)
But when I found it the other day for 70% off, making it right around $38?!?!? Yes, ma’am. It needed to come home with us. Not only does it fit the character of our room really well, it also alleviates a storage issue as we have way too many things don’t have enough cabinet space. 🙂
I found that great set of dessert plates with various gold and white designs, the striped and polka dotted paper straws, & those awesome coasters toward the back made for us by my sister-in-law, Mandy to go with the cart…. And yep, you guessed it! Everything I bought was on DEEP discount. Everything else was a wedding gift, and I’m so excited they now have a space to be displayed!!
I even found this little gem you can’t see in any of the pictures:
I remember describing my ‘vision’ for this room back before I even lived in this house, when Craig & I were engaged. He was a bit skeptical back then. 😉 But the other day, he told me he can see my ‘vision’ in the room now, and he says I achieved it (YES!!!). Win!
I think one of the most important aspects of interior design (or probably any design work, for that matter) is to create a space based around a feeling, an experience you want to have when you walk into that room. You are able to, then, pick colors, fabrics, and pieces that reflect that feeling. Pretty soon, the room has come together and you never had to fret over which style you are – traditional, modern, farmhouse, because it is all based around pieces you love and a feeling you desire.
Remember us telling you we went to Opulent for dinner the other night with my parents and brother? Thought we would share these two cute pics today:
Just like all of our family, we really wish we could spend more time with this bunch! Dinner was delicious and alot of fun!
One other note for today, keep your eyes and ears open for Jesus. Yesterday, we talked about how God has been really speaking to us with the book of Isaiah…Well, yesterday, He put yet another verse from Isaiah in front of us. Sometimes God’s Will for your life, and His promises are right in front of you.
I feel like y’all have been robbed of What’s Up Wednesday posts for the past two weeks, being that both Christmas and New Year’s Day fell in the middle of the week. Unfortunately, our lives aren’t that exciting – 😉 – so today’s post just reverts back to that of a typical “What’s Up Wednesday”.
So what’s up?
Well, for one, I have been working on our home decor – as usual, and so, while Craig was away for work, I spent last Saturday afternoon perusing Dupre’s Antique Market on the Marietta Square… Folks, oh. my. goodness. gracious. I love love love a good antique store. Seriously, other than Goodwill, antique stores are my favorite places to shop – and for the same reason I love Goodwill shopping: You just never know what you might find. (And I love discovering a treasure underneath a pile of junque {that’s fancy junk, in case you were wondering}.) What makes most antique shopping even better than Goodwill? You can barter down their pricing!
Dupre’s has everything from fine china to local original artwork.
The next time you’re in the Atlanta area, you really have to visit this place…
We have been in the market for an occasional chair to “finish” (ha, ha) out our great room, and (under a pile of genuine junque) I came across this:
A gorgeous grey French barrel cane chair – vintage, of course!
Just look at that detailing…Ahhhh. LOVE this addition!! (& so does Craig!) It fits perfectly with our great room coloring and now, all we’re missing is a great lumbar pillow to complete it… Any suggestions?
While scouring Dupre’s from top to bottom, I also found a great set of drapery panels for our kitchen.
Craig was pretty surprised when he returned home from his trip that afternoon I had hung these babies on my own! 😉 Little did he know his wife was handy with a cordless drill! 😉
Between the gorgeous chargers I found at Goodwill last week, and these draperies, our little kitchen/breakfast room area feels really warm and inviting! Interior design for your own home is always the most fun! 😉
In other news, 2014 is going to be the year of the physician visit. Between Craig and myself, this year alone has already meant our gracing the offices of 4 doctors. Ugh. I can feel our HSA Account groaning! But, this is a good thing! Items we have been putting off are being taken care of – namely, my 90-year old right knee, as we affectionately refer to it.
The Scene Of The Crime
Since the dreadful skiing incident of (early) 2012 when I hit a mogul and fell face first down the mountain…My knee has been in bad terrible shape. For the first 3 weeks, I couldn’t move it at all. It was swollen up like a sausage, and the pain…Oh, I can’t even describe that. It was excruciating. Well, even now – 2 years later – my right knee creaks loudly when I bend it, and it is still unbearably painful to do any sort of ‘high-impact’ exercise (which is why I switched to Pure Barre). If I put any strain on my knee, or walk too far (seriously), I pay for it for the next week. Craig is all too familiar with the look on my face that says it’s time for Aleve and Ben-Gay.
Now that the insurance stars have aligned, I was finally able to see a Sports Medicine Specialist/Orthopaedic Surgeon…who told me he was pretty sure I have been dragging around a torn ACL for the past 2 years, and it (shocker!) has not healed correctly.
No wonder it hurts so much, huh?
Now to wait for the results of the MRI. Stay tuned.
Otherwise, we are awaiting our inaugural appointment with the Atlanta Center For Reproductive Medicine. Fingers are crossed for better care than we’ve been given at Horrible OB-Gyn of Nameless Town In Georgia.
Prayers, please.
Now that y’all are allllllll caught up on the lives of the Newlywed Lefebvres, I have one little question for you?
Let us know. Your answers will be shared only with us and are completely anonymous. We just want to know how YOU feel!
As we make the short drive back from celebrating a belated Christmas & New Year’s Day with my parents, Craig and I wish you and your families a blessed 2014, full of health and happiness!
We wish you and your families a very merry, joyous, healthy and safe Christmas! God blessed us with a wonderful visit to Minnesota, along with a truly beautiful “white Christmas” of snow and below freezing temperatures!
It has been a little while since I have written anything on the blog, so I decided that I would sit down and take some time on ‘What’s Up Wednesday’ to give a little bit of info on what has been going on.
Usually you see some pictures of the latest project I have been working on (for quite some time) and that being the cheval mirror for my wife. I am glad to say that the mirror part is finished so we have at least a full length mirror available!
It may sound silly to take on another project while I am finishing this one, but I find that working on another gets me motivated to work on the other, because I always reach a point where glue or a finish needs to dry, and then I can switch to the other one and keep going.
I decided to build a jewelry box for my wife, which I thought would be a pleasant surprise for her. I have no clue what I said that clued her in, though, because she straight out asked if I was building one! I could not keep it from her because I was so shocked that she guessed, that I knew I could not hide it in my expression!
Sunday we celebrated a little bit of Christmas early, and exchanged our “big gifts” with each other. This is only the start of our Christmas celebrating, as we have our stocking stuffers and Christmas dinner on Friday, and then we will celebrate with family after that! It will definitely be busy next week!
Pier picked out the perfect gifts for me! I will share a couple of them! I received a red and green plaid flannel shirt, which will be the perfect and warm shirt to wear on Christmas! After opening that, she gave me this HUGE box. Although it was not heavy for its size, I began to open it and I soon realized that there was another box inside wrapped up… and I opened that to find another and another and another and another and another! I never thought it would be 7 boxes to open!! Just for her to find 7 boxes to fit perfectly inside one another must of taken months!
Once I finally got down to the actual gift box I opened it and found a Citizen Eco-Drive Skyhawk Blue Angels edition watch! I was fascinated by the fact that it set itself to the correct time with radio waves right then and there and later I read the “mini book” called an instruction manual and found out the many other features of this watch including the E6-B computer on the face dial of the watch! Pilots will know exactly what I am talking about! Also, no batteries to replace as it is charged by any light source and will run 6 months in complete darkness with a full battery!
I loved watching Pier open her gifts. As some of you know, my wife has an amazing voice and I love to hear her sing. The best thing is she loves to sing, so I get to hear her often! I decided to get her a whole home recording and vocal system. I watched her smile as she opened the boxes containing the pro grade speaker, song database of 17,000 songs, 2 pro microphones (one for me so we can sing together!) and a mixing board and cables! It is unfair if only I get to hear her, so I also included a special recording mic and audio interface so we can record her singing!! I am sure that she will have some songs on the blog in the future! We have already used both systems and I will say she sounds amazing on them!
Well, I need to get back down to the workshop and finish Pier’s jewelry box! We hope you all have a wonderful day, and join us again tomorrow for Thirsty For Christ Thursday!
