God's Will · TTC Tuesday

I’m Listening, Lord…

At this point, I almost feel like a broken record – except that I have been silent for so long, it is more like a broken record player. Yes, I am a bad blogger – and vlogger, to that point. Certainly beginning work on my Masters of Divinity has cut into my blogging time, as I am constantly writing and reading – but not about blog-able topics to be sure! We have also been grieving, though. Not only in the loss of our pregnancy two days after Mother’s Day, but also in the fact that our second, and last, round of IVF failed – and we have no remaining embryos, and a big question mark as we face our future.

As I sit back and reflect, and try to wrap my mind around the fact, that I may never carry a child, to term, on my own…that we may never have a biological child, I am reminded of the Bible verse that graces our kitchen’s chalkboard: Psalm 113:9.

He gives the childless woman a family, making her a happy mother. Praise the LORD! (NLT)

I can never put from my mind the memory of the vision the Lord granted me nearly four years ago. Interestingly, I know of two other women to whom God gave a clear vision of a child or children who are still ‘barren’. It is easy to abandon hope and believe the God-given dream to be a figment of imagination, but faith reminds me He brings beauty from ashes. If we are to have a child now, after every medical option is exhausted, it is He who is glorified, and even more so. If we adopt a child someday, he or she will be appreciated and loved and rejoiced over that much more.

Our waiting in this season, as I approach my 35th birthday this week, reminds me that I felt like I hoped, prayed, begged, and waited for an interminable amount of time for Craig…and yet, God knew what He was doing. My husband was worth every bit of waiting, and appeared on the scene at precisely the right time in life.

While it is difficult to surrender all to Him in this instance, it is the only choice we have, and that still, small voice beckons me to drop my agenda and rest in Him.

Listen closely. What is His still, small voice asking of you?

What's Up Wednesday

All In Just Over A Month…

Wednesday

Wow – It’s been awhile since we have published a What’s Up Wednesday! But once you see “what’s been up” in the post below…I think you may understand the reasoning for the break from blogging! 🙂 Enjoy the mini picture album, and see how much God can do when you simply say “YES!”

It all started with Craig and I putting our house on the market. We knew it was time to move…but at the time, we had no CLUE of how big God’s plans for us were!

image

When we made plans to move to Maine, and answered His call to “PACK!”, our house sold in basically the snap of a finger! We knew we would be downsizing, and so we had a grand ol’ two-day yard sale:

imageI

image

image

After everything had been sold, donated or packed, we took a final look at the beautiful Georgia view from our back porch…image

…and we said goodbye to some of our dearest friends…image

…and we packed up the biggest moving truck Penske had available…image

…and set off for Vacationland (otherwise known as “Maine”)! *If you’re a Lefebvre, you understand why I’m pointing to the grill of this truck…If not, just know this moving truck was an International…and that means it was ‘OK” to make the trip!image

We made the LONG drive from Georgia to Maine…image

…and arrived safely to our little apartment with the furs!image

We started to check out our new neighborhood…image

image

image

image

image

image

…and enjoyed some delicious seafood and beautiful views along the way!image

Our pups enjoyed the ocean for the first time…image

…and if you’ve never watched the movie “Marley & Me”, do…and you’ll understand why the beach was such an experience for us… 😉image

We celebrated our two-year/cotton wedding anniversary, and received this beautiful cotton bole from my parents in a box!image

We celebrated our marriage in Cancun, Mexico!!image

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

We had the most MAGICAL anniversary dinner at Thai Cancun…All of the pictures taken were taken from our own private tiki hut for dinner!!!image

image

image

image

image

image

image

image

When we returned from our whirlwind trip, it was back to work for me! Fortunately, being a youth minister means I have the most rewarding and fun job in the world and we got to see Rend Collective Experiment!! If you have never heard of this band…A) They are AWESOME! and B) Look them up! I especially like their song “Build Your Kingdom Here”!image

image

Next up, we celebrated my 32nd birthday! Craig made me a Gluten-Free Three-Layer Banana Pudding Cake! It was DELICIOUS! And yes, I know, I am incredibly blessed to have such an amazing husband! I don’t take him for granted – at all!image

image

image

We visited the Victorian House in downtown Portland, Maine, and also the Urban Farm Fermentory…image

image

We walked around downtown Portland, and I found a pier on which to take a Pier picture…image

…and we enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Street & Co. (also in Downtown Portland)…image

…where we, of course, enjoyed the lobster! Lobster Diavolo for Two, to be specific! Yum!!!!imageAnd that, my dears, is what has been keeping us so busy! In between all of that, we welcomed our sweet and beautiful niece, Eden, into the world (not in person yet, so that’s coming); we attended a Church conference in middle Maine; we traveled to and from Atlanta because my biological father was in a terrible motorcycle accident (Prayers are still needed for him, please!); and we have been running a youth ministry while I study Biology on the side.

I need a nap.

But don’t worry – We’ll be back tomorrow!

On The Road Again…

whats up friday

FRIDAY! I could shout it from the rooftops!! We are saying our prayers that Craig makes it home today – He was stuck in White Plains, NY last night due to fog and weather…Crazy to me, since it was 97°F outside and absolutely spectacular here in Atlanta, G-A! 🙂 We cannot WAIT to begin our BUSY, wonderful weekend!!

About twelve hours ago this time last week, we were up to another one of our crazy trips! Rather than fly to Minnesota for Craig’s dad’s birthday, we decided to make the 18 hour drive again – with the pups!

10277790_1426847437576648_6742887181906365245_n

They are such good travelers!!!

Craig’s dad’s 60th birthday came in the form of a surprise party, so when we arrived on Friday afternoon, we met up with Craig’s sister, Mandy, and our brother-in-law, Mike, who took us in for the night. 🙂 Thank you SO much for letting us stay with you! (Especially with Lucy & Caroline!)

We went out to eat that evening in Downtown St. Paul with Mandy, Mike & Jenna too – Craig’s youngest sister! Great Waters Brewing Company was delicious!

When we got back to Mandy & Mike’s that evening, it wasn’t very long before Craig and I CRASHED! An eighteen-hour drive and no sleep was enough to do us in for about 12 hours! 🙂

Kevin’s 60th birthday party was held at Rockwoods Grill in Otsego, which is Craig’s hometown.

Here are some pictures from the awesome party – I sure do hope we surprised my father-in-law!

wpid-20140517_223029.jpgBack at the Lefebvre Farm, the next day after church, we had a big family lunch and took some BEAUTIFUL family pictures outside!

wpid-img_7281.jpg wpid-img_9576.jpg wpid-img_2947.jpg wpid-img_6209.jpg wpid-img_4013.jpg

And then at 6:30AM the next morning, we were back on the road to Georgia!

PicMonkey Photo

We had a WONDERFUL time, and hope our Midwestern Family knows they are always welcome Down South – and that we would love to have them! 🙂

Have a FABULOUS Memorial Day weekend everyone!!! I want to especially say “Thank you” to my father who is a Retired Army Officer! Thank you for your service to this wonderful nation!

The Birthday Extravaganza Revealed

Wednesday

Craig’s 32nd birthday began 3 days early this year, on April 10th. After all the other preparations were made, I made his birthday cupcakes (shown here) and arranged them carefully with a special riddle/poem:

image (1)

When Craig arrived at Water Dog Kennels the next morning, he was presented with another clue:

image (4)

And when he met me at work, my car already loaded down with luggage, gifts, and a huge cooler, he got this clue:

image (3)

image (12)

And then a pair of sunglasses:

DSCN0923

He jumped into the driver’s seat with a smile on his face, and I gave him a special mix CD 🙂 and told him to choose from the Saved Destinations list in the GPS “Craig’s Birthday Part 1“… And the drive begin…He still had no idea where we were headed – just that it was about 160 miles away!

Around 6:30pm, we arrived outside of Lulu’s On Main, which I mentioned here

wpid-20140411_191212.jpg

It was seriously some of the best food…Yum! And then it was off to our next destination…And still, Craig had no idea where we were going… This time he just chose “Craig Birthday #2” from the destinations list and off we went… 15 miles down the road…

wpid-20140412_112436.jpg…to the gorgeous and charming Balsam Mountain Inn.

The Balsam Mountain Inn has a very interesting history and the most “shabby chic” rooms I have ever seen! They are each unique and charming, and we have never stayed at a more friendly place!

That evening, Craig and I sat on the rocking chair porch, enjoying the scenery and each other’s company! The air was warm and the night was just breezy enough! It was truly a beautiful evening!

The next morning I woke up bright and early to surprise Craig with his next clue:

image (7)

image (11)

{Translation: “You’ll want to wear this; I know you’ll look hot. But will it help your feet? No, probably not! They’ll be roaming along. You’ll wish you had four…as we travel on this WALKING BREWERY TOUR!”}

…and with this hat I had made for him at Smathers & Branson:

Craig was super excited about our little trip to Asheville & the brewery tour! We ate a delicious breakfast at the inn, and then headed out to the “big city” (most cities are enormous in comparison to Balsam, NC!) for a fun-filled afternoon!

wpid-20140412_112506.jpg wpid-20140412_125232.jpg

Craig found a cat in one of the shops we ventured into...
Craig found a cat in one of the shops we ventured into…

Then we began the tour of three of Asheville’s local breweries: Lexington Avenue, Green Man & Twin Leaf:

wpid-20140412_142808.jpg wpid-20140412_172223.jpg

…followed by dinner at a dive called The Thirsty Monk ( – chosen since I call my husband “Monkey”, “Monx” & “Monk” :-))

wpid-img_20140412_201825.jpg

It was a gorgeous day and we had a wonderful time walking all over Downtown Asheville!

The next morning I had chosen a church for Palm Sunday, and we ate a quick breakfast and made it to the 9AM Mass – Luckily, we were literally BLESSED with a palm! Then it was off to the next destination:

The Georgia Guidestones
The Georgia Guidestones

DSCN0927 DSCN0915 DSCN0916 DSCN0919And then back in the car with the next unknown plugged into the GPS…Fortunately, as we were driving there, Craig pointed out the exit for my office along the way…where his truck remained parked… We had to make a surprise detour into Dunwoody to  retrieve the truck, and then I hugged Craig and told him I would see him at home… 🙂

Where he received his final clue:

image

image (13)

Here’s his new belt:

And we drove to South City Kitchen in Vinings for his birthday dinner…

wpid-20140413_203546.jpg…where he was very surprised to find my parents, brother and our dear friend, Julia, waiting at the table to surprise him!

As you can imagine, we have slept like rocks since we returned home!! We had an absolute blast, and I would plan something like this for him any day of the week, any season of the year!

I love you, Monkey! 🙂 Happy Birthday (one last time!)!

Big Surprises For The Birthday Boy!

WednesdayEeeek! Only a few more days until my husband’s special birthday extravaganza begins!! Can you tell I’m excited?!?!?!

Two Very Special Birthdays Ago

I have SUCH a special weekend planned, and I am BURSTING to share everything with him! (Good thing he’s out of town, so it’s easier to keep my secret!)

Of course, until tomorrow when Craig returns home…I have a TON to do – errands to run, things to bake, places to go, coolers to fill, clothes to pack  Oops! Did I say that?!?! 🙂 Tonight is church – for which I am super excited – but then it’s time to head home and finish making all the last minute preparations!

Just wait until next week when we get to share all of the details and pictures with you! Promise you it’ll be worth the wait! 🙂

In other news, we have our summer vacation planned!! TO THE BEACH WE GO!!!! I found a heckuvah deal on Groupon, and we booked our room today at Majestic Beach Resort! By mid-July, our view will be like this…

…and I cannot wait! There is nothing like crashing waves on the beach, fresh seafood, and a summer glow to make everything better!

Don’t forget to wish Craig a Happy Birthday on Sunday! He’ll be the big 3-2!

xoxo

The Big 3-1 & The First Week On The Job!

Good Morning All!

First, my apologies for being MIA the past few weeks! We’ve had a lot going on here in Georgia – from C’s birthday to his recurrent training to my new job as a nanny! Unfortunately, in all the hustle and bustle, we were unable to make the trip to MN for Craig’s cousin’s wedding – We were so sad to miss it, but plans are in the works for us to make a trip north very soon! Would anyone in GA like to volunteer to watch this little rascal sweetheart for us while we are gone?

LUCYKINS

My sweet husband celebrated his 31st birthday last Saturday and we were so lucky to be able to spend the whole day together! I made a Layered Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting with Pecans – all from scratch. You can see the recipe here. I made a few minor changes: The recipe calls for 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar, and I ran out of sugar at 1 1/3 cups…So I added Dark Brown Sugar to reach  1 1/2 cups, plus about another 1/3 of a cup. Also, I used pecans throughout the batter AND in the icing, as well. Craig LOVED this cake. He isn’t much of a dessert person, but loves his breakfast, so this combination worked out well for him, as it is very similar to Banana Bread. Typically, I would have a picture of this deliciousness for you…but, alas, I used a new type of icing to write “Happy Birthday Craig” on top of the cake….and instead I made a MESS! 🙂 Who says delicious has to be pretty?? 🙂

Birthday Boyl surprised the birthday boy with a ride in a World War II Vintage Open Cockpit BiPlane!

IMG_1739 IMG_1731 IMG_1736I had no idea how much fun our ride was going to be! You should definitely try it out! You can make a ‘reservation’ here. We followed our flight with a yummy dinner at Elevation Chophouse:

IMG_1749And then some of our very best friends – Josh, Julia and Steve – met us to end the evening at Electric Cowboy! Happy Belated 31st to Craig! And thank you to everyone who helped make his special day even more special! 🙂

In other news, I am officially into my second week as a nanny to beautiful newborn twins and a lovely two-year old little girl! This week I have begun to cook for the family, as well, and just cannot begin to  explain how much I am enjoying my new “job” – two of my favorites: cooking and children, and it’s what I do for a living?!?! Love it!

Well, speaking of my new nanny position, I must get going! Little Lucy needs a walk before I head off to work!

We hope all of you are doing well! Promise it won’t be such a long time until our next post! I’ve got a great recipe to share for a Buffalo Chicken Dip I turned into a Casserole/Hot Dish. It’s easy, gluten-free and quite tasty! 🙂 So, until then…

Take Care! XOXO,

Pier & Craig

Happy Birthday, Daddy Dee!

My late Daddy Dee, with my mother and uncle standing in front of him.

Today, October 17th, would have been his birthday! I remember him oh so fondly, and miss him all the time! So sad Craig never got the chance to meet him…He and Daddy Dee would have LOVED having long conversations about how things work, tractors, motors, and both of their favorite topic: God.

Rest in Peace, Daddy Dee, and Happy Birthday!
