I Could Do The Tiny Burrito Diet…

Friday2

Y’all. Have you seen the tiniest hamster eating the tiniest burrito? OMG (oh my goodness) this is the cutest thing ever!

Seriously!? How precious was that?? He is even served his tiny little burrito at a teensy weensy little table! Awww!

That should be enough to melt your heart for the weekend!! 🙂

This one is a bit thought-provoking…

That, my dears, is seawater…magnified 25 times. Hmmm, you may want to try extra hard to keep your mouth closed tight the next time you’re diving head-first into the ocean… I guess both my father-in-law and husband are safe (and probably saying, “I told you there was no good reason for swimming!” right this second), but not me – When we venture to the beach in 2 months, I am going to bask in the glorious sun, salt and sea – disgusting microorganisms or not!

And finally, in honor of the Kentucky Derby coming up this weekend:

Click the image above to find out how to pick this year’s winner! And p.s. don’t expect much in the way of guidance – I could have given you the same advice. 🙂 I just didn’t want you to miss the opportunity to wear your big floppy hat and cheer on the horses!

And now to wrap things up for the day! My husband is home (happy dance – yay!), and I have some mint to muddle and a hat to buy for tomorrow’s race! 😉

Food For Thought Friday · What's Up Wednesday

Friday For Wednesday

Wednesday For Friday

SO…..I know, I know…Today is supposed to be “What’s Up Wednesday” and we are supposed to have pictures and updates and all kinds of fun and excitement, but the truth is…well, we are having some technical difficulties – camera-wise. I totally forgot to put the memory card in the camera for Easter…and now all our pictures are literally trapped inside the device, just waiting to get out! But fear not, an a/v cord is on the way! We are keeping our fingers crossed for its arrival in the mail tomorrow!

In the meantime, we will (hopefully) treat this Friday as Wednesday, and today will be Food For Thought Friday – which composes a few different things:

1. Meal Planning

photo 1-1If you aren’t already doing this, you should be. Meal planning not only can save you a great deal of money on food, but it is a total de-stresser for your week! Click here for a free printable meal planning worksheet. Here’s mine for the week (well, the week which for us begins tomorrow when Craig is back home for dinner!):

I love these lists that include the meal chart and the grocery list together! When you are able to plan your meals for a week and walk into the grocery store with a firm list of what you need to make those meals happen, you save big money and time, too! I was in and out of Ingles yesterday in 15 minutes. AND our budget for groceries for the week is $100 – I made it out at $92! Winning!

2. What is your “Life Verse”?

I’m a total sucker for ‘quizzes’ and I discovered the one above perusing Facebook today – specifically Pastor Alan’s page. Maybe he likes quizzes too 🙂

This quiz is quick and gives you a Bible verse at the end – your “life verse” – and there is nothing wrong with one more Bible verse for the day! Click here for the “What is Your Life Verse?” quiz. I got Romans 8:28 (and so did a lot of other people…but I re-did the quiz again with different answers and received a different verse, so it isn’t rigged. 🙂 ):

I’d say that’s a pretty awesome verse to be handed mid-day. 🙂

3.  Learning (For Free!)

There’s a really interesting website I just discovered where you can take online courses, in a variety of areas, and receive a certificate of completion…and even better, many of the courses are FREE! Here’s a link to check it out yourself – UDEMY. Here are some of the free courses available:

And those are all FREE COURSES! How great is that?

Well, folks, enjoy your Friday for Wednesday! 🙂 Let us know which courses you pick, which recipes you choose for your meal plans, and most importantly, which Bible verse you “got” on your Life Verse Quiz!

Have a great night!

His Death Was For Our Life

goodfridayToday is Good Friday, and in keeping with the theme of yesterday’s post on Maundy/Holy Thursday, it isn’t a time to post about us. It’s all about Him.

He died a criminal’s death on a crucifix, in place of us.

…by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5

Yesterday’s video…declaring we all are Barnabas – criminals – sinners – deserving of such pain and agony; and HE TOOK OUR PLACE. Do you realize the kind of pure love that is? There is nothing like it in this world. Nothing at all.

This song (video below) is a pre-release edition by Hillsong Live for the movie (we absolutely loved!), “Son Of God”:

And we have a great Good Friday treat for you, you can have this song’s download for free by clicking here. Hillsong will send you an e-mail with the download information.

Here are the lyrics to “Calvary“:

The Savior alone
Carried the cross
For all of my debts
He paid the cost

Salvation complete
Now forever I’m free

Chorus:
CALVARY
Covers it all
CALVARY
covers it all

My sin And shame
Don’t count anymore
All praise to THE ONE
Who has ransomed my soul

CALVARY
Covers it all

No power on earth
Not even the grave
Can separate us
From mercy and grace

He is faithful to save
Oh His blood never fails

CHORUS

No one But Jesus
Can make us pure
Like snow
We stand in your freedom

CHORUS

All praise to THE ONE
Who has ransomed my soul
CALVARY
Covers it all

Mark 15

New English Translation (NET)

Jesus Brought Before Pilate

15 Early in the morning, after forming a plan, the chief priests with the elders and the experts in the law and the whole Sanhedrin tied Jesus up, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate. So Pilate asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” He replied, “You say so.” Then the chief priests began to accuse him repeatedly. So Pilate asked him again, “Have you nothing to say? See how many charges they are bringing against you!” But Jesus made no further reply, so that Pilate was amazed.

Jesus and Barabbas

During the feast it was customary to release one prisoner to the people, whomever they requested. A man named Barabbas was imprisoned with rebels who had committed murder during an insurrection. Then the crowd came up and began to ask Pilate to release a prisoner for them, as was his custom. So Pilate asked them, “Do you want me to release the king of the Jews for you?” 10 (For he knew that the chief priests had handed him over because of envy.) 11 But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release Barabbas instead. 12 So Pilate spoke to them again, “Then what do you want me to do with the one you call king of the Jews?” 13 They shouted back, “Crucify him!” 14 Pilate asked them, “Why? What has he done wrong?” But they shouted more insistently, “Crucify him!” 15 Because he wanted to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas for them. Then, after he had Jesus flogged, he handed him over to be crucified.

Jesus is Mocked

16 So the soldiers led him into the palace (that is, the governor’s residence) and called together the whole cohort. 17 They put a purple cloak on him and after braiding a crown of thorns, they put it on him. 18 They began to salute him: “Hail, king of the Jews!” 19 Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Then they knelt down and paid homage to him. 20 When they had finished mocking him, they stripped him of the purple cloak and put his own clothes back on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.

The Crucifixion

21 The soldiers forced a passerby to carry his cross, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country (he was the father of Alexander and Rufus). 22 They brought Jesus to a place called Golgotha (which is translated, “Place of the Skull”). 23 They offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. 24 Then they crucified him and divided his clothes, throwing dice for them, to decide what each would take. 25 It was nine o’clock in the morning when they crucified him. 26 The inscription of the charge against him read, “The king of the Jews.” 27 And they crucified two outlaws with him, one on his right and one on his left.29 Those who passed by defamed him, shaking their heads and saying, “Aha! You who can destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, 30 save yourself and come down from the cross!” 31 In the same way even the chief priests—together with the experts in the law—were mocking him among themselves: “He saved others, but he cannot save himself! 32 Let the Christ, the king of Israel, come down from the cross now, that we may see and believe!” Those who were crucified with him also spoke abusively to him.

Jesus’ Death

33 Now when it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. 34 Around three o’clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” 35 When some of the bystanders heard it they said, “Listen, he is calling for Elijah!” 36 Then someone ran, filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a stick, and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Leave him alone! Let’s see if Elijah will come to take him down!” 37 But Jesus cried out with a loud voice and breathed his last. 38 And the temple curtain was torn in two, from top to bottom. 39 Now when the centurion, who stood in front of him, saw how he died, he said, “Truly this man was God’s Son!” 40 There were also women, watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome. 41 When he was in Galilee, they had followed him and given him support. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were there too.

Jesus’ Burial

42 Now when evening had already come, since it was the day of preparation (that is, the day before the Sabbath), 43 Joseph of Arimathea, a highly regarded member of the council, who was himself looking forward to the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 44 Pilate was surprised that he was already dead. He called the centurion and asked him if he had been dead for some time. 45 When Pilate was informed by the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. 46 After Joseph bought a linen cloth and took down the body, he wrapped it in the linen and placed it in a tomb cut out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone across the entrance of the tomb. 47 Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where the body was placed.

Mixed-Bag Friday

Friday2Yay for Friday!! We are looking forward to celebrating the anniversary of our first date and our engagement tonight with dinner and a movie!! Do you have any big plans for the weekend?

Today is sort of a mixed bag here at The Newlywed Lefebvres – several things to share with you at random. 🙂

First, here is the devotion I read today.

Click Me!

I know God placed this one in front of me today for a reason. Part of our hope in Him is the ever-constant reminders of His faithfulness. No matter what your prayer, He listens.

Below is a video (yes, you will need to open this post within a browser to view it), of an amazing moment. The 40-year old women shown has been deaf all her life, and here, she is hearing for the first time! Can you even imagine?!?! 40 years of silence, and then beautiful sound!??! Nothing short of a miracle!

That is truly joy personified!

And finally, it’s no secret that I LOVE TO READ! It’s one of my better habits 🙂 The more I read, the more I discover the beauty of words, and the sentences they are weaved into. Here’s a listing of the supposed “Ten Best Sentences Of All Time”, some from some great pieces of literature…I don’t know that they are the greatest sentences, (They missed out on one very important book which houses all of the greatest sentences!) but the beauty of the words and the complex way they convey their meaning…It is truly art.

Click Me!

Well, now, you should have plenty of food for thought to round out your day and plenty of conversation starters for the weekend! 🙂

Enjoy yourselves, and we’ll meet you back here on Monday!

Dream The Impossible Dream

Friday2

Happy Friday! Today open this post in a browser because we have a ton of thought-provoking information for you, and a lot of it is via video. You’ll want to watch. Trust us. 🙂

Some food for thought…

Isn’t that what childlike faith is all about?

Luke 18:17

17 I tell you the truth, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”

In other Food For Thought Friday News…

30,000 YEAR OLD VIRUS HAS BEEN REVIVED?!?!?! {click the picture for the link to the articleI don’t know about y’all…but that one should make you THINK!

And these two are just for fun…

Um…is it just me, or is that not SUPER cool?!?! That’s actually a current “concept” Pizza Hut is considering…Now if only the place had gluten-free pizza…

This next one freaks me out a little bit…The whole concept… But I want your opinion…Would you go?

The father…I just don’t understand how you could live with yourself… I really don’t…Did that bother you, too?

What are your overall thoughts after watching that documentary… I was very provoked by it…Made me think about how we should feel that way about Earth, since as Christians we are aliens in a strange land…

And finally, this Chevy commercial just made me cry right here at my desk.

All I could think about was our sweet fur-babies… Oh, pets are SUCH a blessing!

Have a great weekend boys and girls! Craig & I have a super fun excursion planned for the next couple days! Tune in next week for all the details! 😉

xoxo

Food For Thought Friday

Finally Friday!

Friday2Finally. The weekend is upon us, and it couldn’t have come soon enough. You know how some weeks it feels like the world is against you, and you are in a constant battle to stay sane and on your feet?

This week has been that week for me.

  1. My surgery was supposed to be performed under general anesthesia.
  2. It was not.
  3. I was awake and feeling a great deal of pain during the procedure.
  4. I did not ovulate on my own this month.
  5. We had to rummage around to find a place we could get to in our area who carried the HCG Trigger Shot and was still open by the time our doctor’s office let us know we needed to make the purchase.
  6. I got a speeding ticket on my way home from dropping Craig off at the truck, which we left at Northside Hospital when I had my surgery.
  7. I got an e-mail last night, right before bed, from the Social Security Administration.
  8. There was a mix-up with my crazy long name that made me worry so much I didn’t sleep much at all.

But I am determined NOT TO LET THE DEVIL WIN.

James 1:2-7

Testing of Your Faith

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

English Standard Version (ESV)

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

Remember almost a year ago when I heard God speak to me? I believe God is calling us to Him, reminding us that no matter what else is going on in the world, we need to re-focus our eyes on the Lord, pull our hearts out of the pile of tears and sadness, and seek what He has in store for us above all else.

It is so hard to forget the world and our problems, and lean solely on Him.

Victoria Osteen posted this on Facebook today:

osteenWhat an important reminder for all of us.

Matthew 6:33

But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

Let’s remember this as we face the weekend upon us.

Happy Friday, Folks!

Keep Calm! It’s (Finally) Friday!

Friday2

Good Morning Friday Folks!

Today I have the pleasure of sharing some wonderful things with you! While very different, I have a slight suspicion  your day might be enhanced by both the post I am about to share with you and the website (and/or Apple App) that follows:

1. Something must be in the water. I have a very sweet cousin who is a fellow Christian blogger (and fashion junkie!). While the following post is from November, it is no less relevant for today or any day, and is a great reminder for each of us about what true beauty really is and how to become truly beautiful.  It brought me back to this verse from 1st Samuel when the Lord is showing the prophet Samuel who will be the next king of Israel:

1 Samuel 16:7

7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t be impressed by his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. God does not view things the way men do. People look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

What a beautiful (no pun intended!) thought, and a wonderful way to bless others with your inner self! Take a moment to read the post from Flawless Faith below:

How to be Good Looking

1463333_10202847821380850_569867778_nI think it’s safe to safe both my cousin, Emily, (and her sweet pup, Roxy!) are beautiful both inside and out!

2. If you haven’t heard about Calm yet, click the link immediately! This website has soothing images set to corresponding music or nature sounds, and you can use a “Guided Calm” or a timer setting to personally tailor your ‘calming’ experience! I love this site for a crazy day at work, or when I get home and need a moment of quiet! And what’s even better? For you Apple folks, there is an iPad/iPhone App, as well – just don’t use it while driving!!!

And for all of you out there who just aren’t ready to calm down yet (it is Friday after all!), here’s a super fun song you may (or may not remember – that is, if you hid under a rock for all of 2011…):

Happy Friday, Y’all! Enjoy your weekend – especially those of you heading to the B Reunion in Minnesota today! We wish we could join you!!

Much Love,
