What's Up Wednesday

Out @ Opulent & A Completed Great Room!

WednesdayYay! We have finally made it to the middle of the week! I’m in the midst of Pure Barre’s January 21 Day Challenge, and boy, the week is dragging by!! 5-7 days/week of leaving the house at 4:45 am. {Yawn.}

image

But I must say that I am LOVING getting this workout in every day! (No, we aren’t being sponsored by PB) But seriously, if you have a studio near you, try this work out. It’s 55 minutes of pure BURNING, while doing NO cardio whatsoever.

As you can tell from the title of this post, between all the Pure Barre classes & work, we have finally completed our great room/den/family room. I found a pillow & throw for our new French barrel cane chair:

Here is a close-up of the fabric:

wpid-IMG957540.jpg

Against the silver of the draperies and the flat grey of the chair, I am loving the way this fabric is both metallic and flat flax-colored linen in one. Perfect blend of opulence and tranquility – The whole theme I designed this room around.

wpid-IMG957648.jpgAnd if you’ll notice in the back left corner of the picture above, you can just barely see our final addition:

wpid-20140109_181744.jpg

This antiqued brass and wood inlay Threshold Target Bar Cart was originally $129.99. NO WAY. (Although, apparently, much better than the price at Crate & Barrel – see link!)

wpid-20140109_181506.jpgBut when I found it the other day for 70% off, making it right around $38?!?!? Yes, ma’am. It needed to come home with us. Not only does it fit the character of our room really well, it also alleviates a storage issue as we have way too many things don’t have enough cabinet space. 🙂

wpid-20140109_181542.jpgI found that great set of dessert plates with various gold and white designs, the striped and polka dotted paper straws, & those awesome coasters toward the back made for us by my sister-in-law, Mandy to go with the cart…. And yep, you guessed it! Everything I bought was on DEEP discount. Everything else was a wedding gift, and I’m so excited they now have a space to be displayed!!

I even found this little gem you can’t see in any of the pictures:

I remember describing my ‘vision’ for this room back before I even lived in this house, when Craig & I were engaged. He was a bit skeptical back then. 😉 But the other day, he told me he can see my ‘vision’ in the room now, and he says I achieved it (YES!!!). Win!

I think one of the most important aspects of interior design (or probably any design work, for that matter) is to create a space based around a feeling, an experience you want to have when you walk into that room. You are able to, then, pick colors, fabrics, and pieces that reflect that feeling. Pretty soon, the room has come together and you never had to fret over which style you are – traditional, modern, farmhouse, because it is all based around pieces you love and a feeling you desire.

Remember us telling you we went to Opulent for dinner the other night with my parents and brother? Thought we would share these two cute pics today:

Just like all of our family, we really wish we could spend more time with this bunch! Dinner was delicious and alot of fun!

One other note for today, keep your eyes and ears open for Jesus. Yesterday, we talked about how God has been really speaking to us with the book of Isaiah…Well, yesterday, He put yet another verse from Isaiah in front of us. Sometimes God’s Will for your life, and His promises are right in front of you.

Join us tomorrow!

Two Years Ago Today…

Good Morning Everyone!

Today is a very special day indeed! Two years ago, on this very day, at this very time, I must have been sitting at my desk at RB Management, poring over magazine pictures and talking with my friends at the office…Trying to decide what I was going to wear for a VERY special date I had that evening. A first date. A first date with the man who turned out to be my husband.

One year ago on this day, I had received a (what appeared at the time to be) very odd package delivered to me at the office…It contained a CD of special songs…a sweet letter…and another envelope I wasn’t allowed to open yet. I left work early for a doctor’s appointment, and afterwards watched a DVD of our past year together with Craig and then went to get ready for our Anniversary Date, only to be met with beautiful flowers and an AMAZING proposal.

Two years ago today my life changed forever, and one year ago today, it changed even MORE and for the absolute best! Happy two year anniversary of our first date, and one year anniversary of the day you asked me to be your wife, Craig! I love you!

One Year Ago Today!
One Year Ago Today!

It’s the first of these years we have not been able to be together, but such is the life of a pilot’s wife! I am, however, able to enjoy this Holy Thursday with the adorable Miss Daisy, and her sister Lucy – both babies are napping and so I finally had a chance to write this blog!

The Girls
The Girls

In other recent news, the draperies are (halfway) completed! 1: We misplaced, and JUST found the return for the other window, and 2: Craig has to be here to thread the bobbin on my sewing machine… SO (or SEW ha ha ha), I did the first panel with stitchwitchery to try and surprise my hubby a few weeks ago with completed draperies… BUT it took almost 4 hours to finish one panel, and my sewing machine just would not allow me to thread it…When C got home, he threaded the bobbin and the second panel was completed while he washed the car with Lucy (fun for him! lol), but then we couldn’t find the return for the 2nd window in our bedroom…So, one window – two panels – are complete!

Draperies DraperiesI’ll try another picture where you can better see the entire window treament soon. I’m not sure why, but the flash on my camera made everything look blue…Oh, well, at least my side of the room is darkened – which means Lucy doesn’t wake up with the roosters, as she did BEFORE the drapes…Whew! 🙂 I really love the wa the window turned out! Craig’s cornice board, made with shims and leftover finish from the refurbishment of our  dresser, plus these draperies, against the deep blue accent wall, really do a lot for our bedroom!

We have ANOTHER new addition in our home, as well: “Alfred”.

Alfred AlfredThe cow rug! :-)If you are in the design world, this rug is a Safavieh! Pricewise, we STOLE it! If you know my husband at all, you know two things: First, he is not likely to pay a lot of money for a rug…Especially one that is solely for decoration. But also, he has a thang for cows and all things farm. “Alfred” (along with the cow print I gave him for Christmas) really makes a statement in our den! Both we AND our girls just love it!

If you haven’t been over in awhile…ahem….please come and visit SOON! You must see all the changes that have turned this once-bachelor pad into our little family’s home!

Little Lucifer Lucy has been growing like a WEED – or maybe faster!

Baby LucyThat was the day we brought her home. This is the other day:

Big Girl! She has discovered a new walking trail, which is DEFINITELY her favorite! The only downside is the 20 minute drive to reach it, along with the fact it is FIVE MILES LONG. You certainly have to carve out a large portion of your day to be able to indulge her!

Walking with DaddyThere are plenty of opportunities for her to get into trouble, considering this is a true nature trail. Yesterday she dove right into a creek that runs alongside the trail, and desperately attempted to catch a fish – which was actually just a floating leaf, but I didn’t have the heart to tell her. Three hours and a 20 minute car ride home later:

Well Worth ItThis was MY reward! The 5 mile walk is MORE than worth it! 🙂

Craig and I celebrated 6 months of marriage a few weeks ago:

Perfect Six Months! And these truly have been the best six months of my life. Hands Down. Without Question! And so, on that note, let me say that we were overjoyed to celebrate the marriage of two more of our dear friends this past weekend: Ashley and JW (or John, or P. Diddy???? Not sure WHAT to call him after the speeches we heard at the rehearsal dinner…) 🙂 It is wonderful to be able to welcome another set of our friends into the bliss and journey that is marriage! Congratulations Ash & J! We wish you all the happiness!!

Ashley Well, I must go! Lucy needs a walk, I need to finish my Bible Study, and then I have to get ready for our parish’s Holy Thursday service! Being in the choir has been SUCH a blessing!

We wish you all the best, and send you all of our love.

In Christ,

Pier & Craig

Hello & Ho Ho Ho

Hey there and Happppppy Friday!

Our short hiatus this past week from the blog doesn’t mean we haven’t been moving at cheetah pace – per usual! 🙂 Between Christmas shopping, work, injury, appointments, and (the most wonderful reason for hustle and bustle of all) friends and family, we haven’t sat down to rest once.

Sunday Craig and I went out in search of this year’s Christmas tree and decorations for our home! I think we did a pretty darn beautimaus job too – especially for newlywed first-time whole home decorators! 🙂 You can see for yourself here on our Shutterfly site! But here are a few previews:

Craig chose the wreath and I made the bow. Perfect Collaboration! 🙂

We Need a Nativity Scene – The Holy Family Is Missing! 😉 Good thing we have the angel and wise men to remind us of the TRUE reason for the season for the moment!120712_2151_HelloHoHoH3.jpg

See, I think we did pretty well!! 🙂

Monday morning my right shoulder and neck began to hurt…No matter the amount of Tylenol and Aleve I took, nothing stopped the pain…So when I got home, my dear husband doctored me up with a heated rice bag…and I began to feel a little bit better. So much so that I slept with the rice bag on my neck/shoulder all night long.

And then I woke up at 4am and tried to roll over…

And I couldn’t lift my head off the pillow. Literally.

Talk about PAIN!!!! It came close to surpassing the pain of my skiing/knee injury last year!! Craig took me to the chiropractor, but we still have no idea of the cause! And I’m still walking around with my head tilted, but thank goodness the pain has subsided somewhat!! I was literally boo-hooing  because of the pain– which I think frightened my husband, because if you know me, I am NOT a crier unless it’s something serious!

Gladly, the worst has past. For the most part, I’m able to walk upright as of today! 🙂 Thank you, God! Prayer is amazing!!!

And now, back to work for another hour before I head off to the Feast of the Immaculate Conception! I’m trying out St. Ann’s in Marietta/Roswell, Georgia this evening so I am able to make the Mass, since I work tomorrow. I’m looking forward to sharing an hour with the Lord, and also seeing the inside of a church I have been driving past for years now and have never entered. I’ve heard it’s beautiful!

My sweet Craig gets back home tomorrow evening and then it’s time for Christmas gift shopping! What’s on your wish list???

Nesting Into Autumn

After nagging asking Craig to shop for Autumn/Halloween decorations with me for a few weeks, we planned to meet at Michael’s last night and then go out to dinner after I finished at the office. I got to Michael’s around 6:15pm and waited and waited and waited and waited… My sweet husband had stopped on the way to help 3 elderly women load an entertainment center and tv into a truck. He then made a scheduled stop at AutoZone to replace the battery in my car (in which he had already changed the oil that afternoon)… So, there was no way I could complain about shopping alone…BUT I was a little bit sad we weren’t able to shop together 😦 Don’t worry, Craig, there’s always CHRISTMAS! 🙂

Anyway, once we finally were able to get together, we had a great evening – culminating in my decorating and Craig’s replacing my car battery and changing our door locks. Yep, we are an old married couple now! 🙂

Our Transitional Fireplace Decorations, which I plan to keep up through Thanksgiving with a few additions.

Note the “L” Pumpkin, Made by Me: Martha Stew… Pier 🙂

Front Porch, with Halloween Wreath & Raven Display (Again, I made both!)

Raven Display – You’ll have to ask Craig about his first encounter with the Raven. Let’s just say I had it on the kitchen table while I was making the wreath and he saw it and since he hadn’t been with me when I was shopping… LOL

Image

Zombie Cameo Halloween Wreath  – I am in love with this ribbon!

Well, that’s it so far! Craig was sweet enough to take pictures for me this afternoon so I could go ahead and do the post during some (unheard of) downtime at work.

Love Y’all!
